Accessibility at buildthedamnthing.com
Last updated: May 27, 2026
We design buildthedamnthing.com with accessibility in mind and aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA where we can. We are not currently making a blanket compliance claim. We have validated the following with both automated and manual testing:
- One
<main>per page and a complete landmark structure on every page (header, main, navigation, footer) - All images have descriptive alternative text or are explicitly marked as decorative
- Semantic HTML for headings, lists, and form fields
- Newsletter signup forms use proper label association, autocomplete attributes, and status announcements compatible with screen readers
- Modern keyboard focus indicators via
:focus-visible - Cookie and consent controls are keyboard accessible
Known gaps we are working on
- A skip-to-main-content link is not yet implemented on every page
- A small number of accent-text patterns do not meet the WCAG 1.4.3 contrast threshold
