Copyright and DMCA Policy

BUILD respects copyright. Members post their own content in our community, and we respond to valid notices of claimed infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

A valid notice must be in writing and must include all six of the following elements.

1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf.
2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed.
3. Identification of the material claimed to be infringing, with enough detail to locate it, including the URL.
4. Contact information for the complaining party: mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
5. A statement that the complaining party has a good faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
6. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that the complaining party is authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.

Notices sent to any other address may not be processed.

When we receive a valid notice, we remove or disable access to the material, we make a good faith effort to notify the person who posted it, and we give that person the counter-notice procedure below.

If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice to the designated agent above. It must include all four of the following elements.

1. Your physical or electronic signature.
2. Identification of the material that was removed and the location where it appeared before it was removed.
3. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that you have a good faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification.
4. Your name, address, and telephone number, a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for the district where you live, or the District of Delaware if you are outside the United States, and a statement that you will accept service of process from the complaining party.

In appropriate circumstances, we will terminate the accounts of members who are repeat infringers.

Anyone who knowingly makes a material misrepresentation in a notice or a counter-notice may be liable for damages under 17 U.S.C. 512(f).
